A 28-year-old female soldier was found naked and dead in her barracks room 1/10/12.
They say she was stabbed to death and unclothed, and her case is being treated as a homicide.
This happened on the base I live on. Most people are questioning the safety of the base, but I’m questioning the standards of the military. Unless it was an angry boyfriend or something, the suspect would most likely be another soldier. They need to evaluate the mental and emotional statuses of our armed forces a little more, I think.
It makes me sad, it really does. This woman was young and thriving to live her life serving her country. She had only been in for 2 years, and died as a specialist. There was so much she had going for her.
I didn’t know her personally, but being a part of this military community and lifestyle, we are all like one big family, no matter where we’re stationed.
I hope they find her killer, and I hope he gets what he deserves and more.
My thoughts go out to the friends and family of Brandy Fonteneaux.
EDIT: I’ve just been informed that the killer is a SGT who attempted suicide, so no arrests have been made on the dead’s behalf. He has been put in a security/mental ward in the hospital on base.
